Contract Awards Data Methodology
Strato's contract awards database is built for fast market discovery, vendor monitoring, and procurement signal detection. It is not an official government system of record.
The public dataset powering the current search page is available at /data/contracts-awards.json.
Sources
Records are derived from public U.S. government spending data, primarily USASpending.gov, with source URLs preserved when available. Briefing content cites public reporting sources inside each Strato Brief edition.
Update Cadence
The contract awards page is designed for daily refreshes. Each published page states its latest update timestamp and the active coverage window.
Fields
award_date: award date reported by the public record.vendor: recipient or contractor name as reported or normalized by the source.amount: award value shown in U.S. dollars when available.agencyandsub_agency: awarding organization fields.description: award description or purpose text from public records.location,naics_code, andnaics_desc: supplemental classification fields when available.source_url: source record or search URL for verification.
Limitations
Public spending records can be revised, delayed, duplicated, redacted, or incomplete. Award values may represent ceilings, modifications, obligations, or contract vehicles rather than final revenue. Users should verify material decisions against the linked government record and the relevant solicitation, award notice, or agency documentation.
